Chicken Feeder
Barbara, North Carolina,
This really saves feed. Chickens took a little time adjusting to it, but they are eating happily now.

Fantastic
Storm,
Had an issue connecting it to the Bluetooth however, the support team were super helpful and I got it connected and working with their fast reply. It does what it says on the tin. I brought it to work in conjunction with my auto doors, as if my chickens don't get let out super early they start screaming. I then found if they don't have food available when they are let out, they will also start screaming. No issues with rodents getting into the feeder so far. I'm also very impressed as my seramas can also use the feeder even with the feet on

Clucking great!
Nick,
Pre-ordered the Auto feeder and had it for around a month now. As anticipated the girls have all taken to it without any fuss and use it avidly. It it definitely a no mess feeder and I’d recommend it if you’re having issues with rats. This wasn’t our primary reason for purchasing it but it is reassuring that it will prevent any unwanted pests. Not having to remove the feeder each day is a big plus. Our hens are located at the top of our paddock so we no longer need to trek up there in the dark winter evenings when it’s often wet and cold. The coop has Auto doors too and we’ve installed a remote camera, making the end of day checks a breeze(less) affair. The build quality is on par with Eglu products and should last a while. I can’t comment on battery life yet but suspect they will be ok for around 6 months at least.

The Omlet Waterer is clearly built to last
Anthony,
For anyone that is using old fashioned plastic gravity water dispensers or dishes that get tipped over, water dirtied with algae and muck from the chooks, or heat up in summer to the point where it isn't good for your chooks, then the Omlet Waterer is a must purchase. Yes, it is not cheap. But unlike those plastic water gravity dispensers that claim to be UV treated (but still eventually warp or get brittle and then crack and fall apart within 1-2 years) the Omlet Waterer will last you for many, many years. It is built to last, and last in harsh conditions. I introduced it with only nipples which my chooks had never seen or used. I spent some time training them and they sort of got how to use them. I really wanted to use nipples to remove any ongoing cleaning and maintenance. After a few weeks, I just wasn't happy that my chooks had worked it out (there is a water gauge, so I knew how much water was, or in this case wasn't, being consumed). It's probably easier if chooks have been reared with nipples waterers. So I relented and replaced one of the 3 nipples with a cup. Immediately they were all crowding around it and using it for the next 3 minutes. From then on, I saw the water level dropping regularly so I knew they were using it. The Omlet Waterer is clearly built to last. It is solid and sturdy. No flimsy handles or handle joins. Lots of thoughtful design choices, such as the sloping lid to stop birds climbing on top (or accumulating dirt), and when the handle pivots to vertical it locks the lid on to prevent anything from somehow pulling it off. The entire unit feels like it is all at least 10mm thick to maintain constant water temperature and not be as affected by outside temperature, wind, sun, as normal waterers. My Omlet Waterer gets a few hours of direct morning sun in summer, but the water never warmed up or discoloured like other waterers. All my other waterers would need to be fully disassembled in the kitchen and washed and scrubbed to remove algae and dirt build-up at least once every 6-8 weeks. Time will tell how often I have to clean out the Omlet, but so far, I don't expect to have to clean the insides more than once every few months, and I suspect that will still be unnecessary. The only part I will need to clean is the water dispenser cups as no-one has worked out how to get chooks to wash their beaks before drinking 🙂 A small amount of dirt slowly accumulated in the cups, but it sinks to the bottom of the cup and so the chooks are still accessing clean water. I suspect I'll be fine giving the cups a quick hose out when I refill the Omlet Waterer. So, what more could you want with a Chook Waterer? Well, for those that don't have power available, then this is as good as it need to get. Possibly the only extra feature worth having is a hose attachment so that it can stay connected to a water supply and never need manual refilling. For those that do have power available, or just like 'smart' devices like I do, then any combination of the following would be handy (but not necessary): * Water gauge sensor - that reports water level (or water remaining) * Water temperature sensor - even though it is thermally insulated, those in more extreme environments would probably rather know, than guess or have to keep checking * Water pH/Hardness sensors - OK, this is getting extreme, but there will be some that have to treat their local water supply to be 'best' for their chooks. * Water heater (already available) - for those in extremely cold locations, a heater to prevent water freezing may still be necessary. This is the best water dispenser I've owned. My chooks free range and on the hottest days of summer, I need to make sure there are waterers is various accessible locations around my property for them (and other wildlife) so I'll definitely be getting at least 1-2 more of these Omlet Waterers!

Brilliant design
Simon,
Absolutely brilliant feeder. I have bought so may over the years and this is the best by far. My only question is why it took you so long to design one!!! Highly recommend. And the hanging option is brilliant as a secondary barrier to any rodents trying to get to the food.

I didn’t think my chickens would like it
Lisa,
I have now had the feeder in use for 5 days. I was really worried my chickens would freak out but I filled it with scrummy treats and within an hour they were all feeding. It’s so easy to use. Thank you Omlet for another excellent idea. It has made my life much easier.
