Chicken Coop Doors

One of the things that sometimes puts people off keeping chickens is the necessity of locking them in for the night, and then letting them out again in the morning.

The hens are very sensible in this respect – they know when it’s time for bed, and will head back to the coop when it begins to get dark. The reason the door has to be locked behind them is nothing to do with preventing them from having a midnight snack – it’s simply to keep out unwanted visitors such as foxes.

Automatic Doors for Chicken Coops

If it’s difficult for you to be on hand every morning and every evening, there is an easy solution – an automatic door for the chicken house.

The automatic door will need a timer or a light sensor – a chicken’s day is ruled by sunrise and sunset, so the latter option is ideal. The door will also have to be weatherproof, secure, and compatible with your existing coop and run set up.

The Omlet Automatic Chicken Coop Door

These were the chief considerations behind the development of the The Omlet Automatic Chicken Coop Door. It features both timer and light sensor functions, works in all weather conditions (including temperatures as low as -20 degrees C), and can be incorporated into any wood or wire coop or run. It also fits perfectly onto the Eglu Cube.

Powered by 4 AA batteries, the Omlet Autodoor is simple to install, and no further maintenance is required once it’s in place. It has built-in safety sensors, to make sure late stragglers never get caught in the closing door.
